Bonjour,
Sciences Humaines: Just a reminder to continue to work on your Sciences Humaines project. Ideally, the rough draft will be completed (in detail) by Friday. Try to think of as many advantages as possible (with specific examples) for the innovation or invention assigned to you (advantages for Mesopotamians as well as for us today).
Français: Verb test tomorrow. Remember to review/study!
Repas Pluriculturel: Don't forget to think of the dish you are going to bring for this Friday's multicultural lunch/Farewell celebration for M. Patterson!
A demain,
Mme Couture

Bonjour,
Thank-you to everyone in the class for doing an awesome job when helping to plant Lansdowne's very first Native Plant garden. Let's help take of our baby plants (many of whom now have names) so that they can grow into a healthy Naturescape that you can all come back to visit long after you've graduated high school.
Devoirs:
Farewell celebration for Mr. Patterson: please think of an international dish that you would like to bring to our multicultural celebratory feast on Friday afternoon. Also, remember to sign the thank-you card (on my desk).
Français: Dictée tomorrow in class.
Passe une bonne soirée!

Bonjour,
Just a reminder that it is Spirit Day tomorrow...wear BLUE to represent the Blue Team!
Also, all book donations (if books are in good condition )are welcome for our book drive!
If you have an IOU with Mrs. Faucett for toonie tie day, don't forget your toonie tomorrow!
Devoirs:
Maths: please work on some of the problem solving questions (have at least two completed by tomorrow). Remember to think about the "rules" for adding and subtracting integers (e.g. when you subtract a negative number from another number, the initial value INCREASES)
It was great to see so many students confidently responding to the questions on the science quiz!
Science Question for discussion : What type of rock forms most of Vancouver Island? Is it metamorphic, sedimentary or igneus? Explain.
A demain,
Mme Couture

Maths: Just a reminder to make sure you have everything you need for our circles unit. Also, make sure you have completed any questions that were for homework from today's lesson.
Also, if you had trouble with the problem solving question on the integers quiz, make sure to complete the problem solving questions from Mme Couture so you can improve your problem solving mark.
Science: The quiz is tomorrow. Make sure to go over questions from the review quiz as well as notes and other practice review tests you have completed over the past few days. If you can easily identify examples of elements (solid and gaseous) and minerals and are comfortable with the rock cycle (types of rockes, how they are transformed) and types of weathering (with examples) you are ready for the quiz.
Remember that the book drive is on! We are competing for top place on the blue team. Bring any of your old books (in good condition) that are appropriate for ages 0-5 years old.

Bonjour,
Just a reminder that there will most likely be a Science test on Wednesday. Please make sure to review notes, and complete practice quizzes from class. Check list:
Can you define what an element is? what a minderal is? what a rock is?
Can you give some examples of each? (of solids, of liquids...)
Can you name the three types of rocks and describe how they are formed?
Can you explain weathering (mecanical and biological) and give some examples?
Can you talk about what we discovered about weathering from our Mt. Tolmie and Dallas road outing? (what did we find in the soil on Mt. Tolmie...)
Maths: review circle vocabulary and bring materials for drawing circles
PE: Bring PE strip
Remember to try to bring books for the book drive (for youth 0-5 years old)
Also, Spirit Day is this Friday. Wear Blue!

Français: Dictée tomorrow...please study!
Maths: Test tomorrow on integers. Please do some practice questions (you can complete a good copy of "everything I know about integers" and go over some of the questions from our review. Just looking at the answers will not help you as much as actually DOING the questions.
Make sure you are confident with the vocabulary for word problems ("difference" and "soustrais" indicates subtraction..."somme" indicates addition). Also, make sure you are comfortable solving questions using a number line, representing concretely by drawing circles AND symbolically (just numbers).
Science: Good copy of rock cycle is for homework. Please ensure it is completed for Tuesday. (This includes a description of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneus rock).

Bonjour,
Science: Review concepts of different rock types, the rock cycle and weathering. Be ready to discuss our field trip next class.
Sciences Humaines: Most students have now submitted their assignments (cities...). If you have not, please do so tomorrow!
Maths: Verify the work you have completed so far on our unit review and begin working on completing the temperature calculations (mode, median, average etc). Don't forget to start by listing temperatures from lowest to highest. For those who don't have all of the temperatures, here they are in order from lowest to hightest:
9,10,11,11,11,11,12,12,12,13,13 14,14,14,14,15,16,16,17
Also, I am missing several pink sheets on integers (I asked for you to write everything you know about integers "nombres entiers" and to include examples, drawings and diagrams to show/prove your knowledge). Please get those in to me so I can give you feedback and a chance to add more detail. Our unit test is rapidly approaching (possible this Friday or Tuesday depending on how our review goes).
